WEEK 3 & 4
WEEKLY REFLECTION ON SCHOOL INTERNSHIP PHASE 2
Weekly reflection from June 26 to July 5.
The third week of phase 2 teaching practice went so fast due to the two public holidays. When we reached school earlier on Monday, there was a special assembly on that day since June 26th is observed as International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The recently assigned counselor conveyed their message to the students, followed by a pledge taken by the student to keep themselves away from the drugs. Also, a health care officer was present in the school from the Koodal community health center, to give awareness to the students about the spiked cases of Dengue fever.
On the second day of the week, we received some unfortunate news about the passing of a humanities teacher in the Higher Secondary Section. We received the devastating news of her passing during a somber evening assembly. It was a time of mourning as we came together to honor her memory. The upcoming days consist of two consecutive public holidays, then we have two working days on Friday and Saturday. As I reflect on the week, I had the opportunity to guide my students through intriguing lessons on The Mysterious Picture. I also implemented a variety of engaging activities to gain a deeper understanding of my students and their unique perspectives
As we kicked off the fourth week of school, the pitter-patter of raindrops provided a soothing soundtrack to our day. I attended school as usual and gave my all to every activity. This week, I finished the poem 'Taj Mahal' and started dealing with the next chapter, which was titled 'The Boy Who Drew Cats'. Last Wednesday I also administered a diagnostic test to the students in class VIII B.July 5th was a significant day as it marked the tribute to the late Beypore Sulthan- Sri Vaikkom Muhammad Basheer on his death anniversary, also known as Basheer Day. The students were fully engaged during a special assembly in which they actively participated. During the presentation, various aspects related to that day and Basheer were discussed. This included a detailed biography, appreciation of his works, and more.
