SECOND PHASE TEACHING PRACTICE - WEEK 1 & 2

WEEKLY REFLECTION ON SCHOOL INTERNSHIP PHASE II

Weekly reflection from June 14 to June 23.

I have begun my second-phase school internship programme in accordance with the B.Ed Curriculum, starting on June 14, 2023. I decided to intern at GHSS & VHSS in Kalanjoor. This school was founded in 1914 and is overseen by the Department of Education. It is situated in a rural area within the Konni block of Pathanamthitta district in Kerala. The school provides a welcoming co-educational environment, complete with multiple classrooms that are well-maintained and conducive to learning. It is truly impressive to observe the complete functionality of new constructions since our previous internship.

The kind new headmaster of the school has given approval for me and seven other teachers to start our practice here. The rest of the staff, including non-teaching personnel, have been very hospitable and helpful.
On our first day, we were assigned a new room to settle into as our old room had been converted into a library for the HSS section. I visited my class, which consisted of eighth-grade students, and got to know them on our initial day together.

Starting from the second day, I began attending the lessons. Compared to the first phase, there were significantly fewer substitutions this time. On Friday, the 16th, which was the third day of practice, I conducted a pretest for my project in both an experimental and non-experimental group.

The second week was much more eventful than the first three days. On Monday, June 19th, the Vidhyarangam club arranged several programs to celebrate Reading Day. The Headmaster delivered a special message on the importance of reading. On June 21st, International Day of Yoga was celebrated with yoga practice and poster making. The following day, June 22nd, one of our fellow teacher trainees celebrated her birthday, and an optional teacher from college came to observe our class. On Friday, June 23rd, there was a strike, and no students were present at the school premises. However, we stayed back until evening to prepare for further classes.
